Moments

In our house
when I was little
(and not so)
there was too much
violence
and so the first time he hit me I
wasn’t
surprised.

It was after
in those intimate moments
of nakedness and
blood
he said
“good girl”
and his touch on my cheek
felt like
love
in those moments
I knew
who
I was.
